How to Host Your HTML, CSS and JavaScript on Google Drive

Google Drive has become one of the best cloud storage service to store your data and access it from anywhere you go. If you are searching for an alternative to host your basic components of your blog such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Images or any other static material then Google Drive is a best option to do so. You can easily host your blog component using Google Drive in few clicks. In this post I am going to explain you how to host your website on Google Drive.

Advantage of Google Drive over Free Hosting site

To host your files Google Drive is a great alternative but there are some limitations.Firstly, You can upload and publish anything that runs in client ,that means, in your case the browser but we can’t host anything that require server side technology.  You can’t host server side scripting languages like PHP, MySQL.

Secondly, The final generated URL is too long to remember www.googledrive.com/host/…..

Also, You can’t change the default Google Drive URL to your custom domain name URL.

Follow the steps below to host your files on Google Drive.

Step 1. Create a new folder and share it as “Public on the Web”.

Step2. Upload your HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Images and all other resources to the folder.

Step3. Select the file and right click on it. Click on Share to get URL like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5WcDwqa_gOXLTRZSnN4SHQyeU/view?usp=sharing/view?usp=sharing. Copy the file id.

Step 4. Copy the file id (Red font in step 3).

Step 5. Generate and share URL that looks like www.googledrive.com/host/0B5WcDwqa_gOXLTRZSnN4SHQyeU.

    Interesting guide. I was completely unaware that we can also host a website on Google Drive. I own a website that I am hosting with Godaddy Economy Plan. I have bought the plan using the Godaddy $1 Hosting Coupon and the plan cost me just $12 yearly with a free domain. Hosting a site on Google drive also sounds interesting.
