Schedule computer to shutdown at a certain time

 This is a general practice that you forget to power off your PC at night . If you are among those then this tutorial is for you. In this tutorial I am going to explain you how to schedule your computer to automatically power off when you are not using it. Follow the below steps to automatically shutdown your windows laptop PC at specific time.

1. Open control panel and click on systems and security.

2. System security windows opens up. Click on schedule task under Administrative Tools.

3. Click on “Create basic Task…” in right pane of the Task Scheduler.

4. Create Basic Task Wizard opens up. Enter name and Description as Shutdown (You can enter any Name and Description of your choice) and click Next>.

6. Choose the option when do you want your PC to shutdown and click on Next>. Here, I have selected Daily.

6. Enter start date and time when you want your PC to shutdown and click Next. If you are entering 12AM then your PC will shutdown at 12AM everyday. Here, I have entered 12:00:00 AM.

8. Select Start a program and click on Next.

9. Enter this value in Program/Script: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe and /s in Add arguments textbox. Click on Next.

Please note windows folder available in system drive. If your Windows installed in X: drive then path will be X:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe

10. Click on Finish. You are done and successfully scheduled your Windows to shutdown at 1:30PM.

Please note the task will run under certain condition. To view and change the condition tick mark the below highlighted option to open task properties.

11. When you click Finish a new Properties window will open (Please make sure you tick mark the option “Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish”). Click “Conditions” tab in Properties window.

Select the option “Start the task only if the computer is idle for…” if you want your PC power off only when you are not using it.
